More Jurisdictions Move to the 2020-Based Code Series

Following the national 2020 code cycle, provinces have been adopting updated editions on their own individual timelines — some moved relatively quickly, others took considerably longer to complete their review and amendment process. Over the past year, several more jurisdictions have reached the point of formally adopting a 2020-based edition, continuing the gradual, province-by-province rollout that follows every national code cycle.

For anyone working across more than one province, this staggered rollout means it's worth checking the current edition in force for each specific jurisdiction rather than assuming the whole country moved together. A national code cycle sets the ceiling everyone eventually works toward, but "eventually" can span several years from the first adopter to the last.
