A hallway within a dwelling unit requires an unobstructed width of 860 mm, reducing to 710 mm in limited cases.
Conditions and exceptions
- The 710 mm reduction applies where the hallway serves only bedrooms and bathrooms and a second exit is provided.
- Unobstructed width excludes trim, handrails, and similar projections.
- Public corridors outside the dwelling unit are governed separately and are wider.
