What is the minimum ceiling height for a bedroom?
A bedroom requires a clear height of 2.1 m over the required floor area.
Conditions and exceptions
- Height is measured to the lowest projection, so beams and ducts can govern.
- Sloped ceilings are assessed over the required area rather than at the peak.
- Secondary suites are treated separately and allow lower heights.
- Ontario applies its own figures — see the Ontario page.
