Manitoba code requirements

• Does the Manitoba Building Code apply to a shed under 10 m²?A building not greater than 10 m² in building area is excluded, provided the authority having jurisdiction is satisfied it does not create a hazard.
• Where are carbon monoxide alarms required in Manitoba?A CO alarm is required in the same room as a permanently installed fuel-burning appliance, in a room adjacent to and within 5 m of one, and centrally located on every storey adjacent to a storage garage.
• What size egress window does a Manitoba basement need?The window needs an unobstructed opening of at least 0.385 m² with no dimension less than 500 mm, a sill not more than 150 mm above the floor, and any window well giving at least 550 mm of clearance.
• What fire separation is required between an attached garage and a Manitoba dwelling?A storage garage must be separated from other occupancies by a vertical assembly with a fire-resistance rating of not less than 45 min, rising to not less than 1 h where an occupancy is above the garage.
